Gilbert Studies

Studies are for you. Whether young or old, stay-at-home mom or corporate executive, single or married, man or woman—studies are for you. Studies give you a place to learn the Bible and grow with others so you become more like Jesus and are better equipped for the mission.

Spring 2019

Core studies are designed to equip both men and women with comprehensive biblical and theological training. Men's studies and women's studies offer an environment in which you can study God's Word and explore its application with other men and women.

How to Study the Bible

Knowing how to read and apply the Bible is vital for a thriving walk with Jesus. This study will introduce you to the basic skills and knowledge needed to study the Bible for all it's worth. A few key insights can help you grasp the meaning of the Bible and its application to your life.

New Testament Overview II

The nation of Israel had many hopes: hope for a deliverer, hope for restored fellowship with God, and hope for the world to be put right. The New Testament is the story of how all the promises of God in the Old Testament are being fulfilled and what that means for us today. This study will help you read the New Testament more accurately, understand the gospel more fully, and apply the gospel more intentionally. This study is the second of two parts, covering the latter half of the New Testament. Even if you didn’t attend part 1, you will greatly benefit from this study.

8 weeks • Tuesdays, Apr 2–May 21 • 7–8:30 pm • Room 147 • Teacher: Stefan Wilson

The Gospel at Work

Many Christians fall victim to one of two main problems when it comes to work: either they are idle in their work, or they have made an idol of it. Both of these mindsets are deadly misunderstandings of how God intends for us to think about our employment. The Gospel at Work unpacks the powerful ways in which the gospel can transform how we do what we do. This book confronts both our idleness at work and our idolatry of work with a challenge of its own—to remember that whom we work for is infinitely more important than what we do.
