Community groups gather in homes throughout the valley, meeting at different times and days of the week. As part of a group, you'll pursue growth in Christ as you gather around God’s word with others pursuing the same thing. See the FAQs for more info.

What is a community group?
Groups look different for each campus, but most groups are made up of 10–16 people who gather weekly to discuss the previous weekend's sermon, pray, and for accountability as we seek to minister to one another. Each group has a trained leader and host. Most meetings last two hours.

When/where do groups meet?
Groups meet on various nights of the week in homes through the valley, or at your campus.

How important are groups?
Groups are high-priority at Christ Church. In groups, some of the most impactful ministry takes place as group members study God’s word while supporting and sharing life with one another. We believe that meeting together in a group on a regular basis is one of the best things you can do for your own spiritual health and the good of the church.

How do I get in a community group?
Your first step is to attend a Consider meeting. Consider gives you the opportunity to learn how to get started in our rhythms of life, and more. Getting started in a group may look different at each campus, but you can be sure you'll find your next step to join a group at Consider.

What about children?
Groups are for adults only. Of course, exceptions are made for nursing newborns up to six months. We leave it up to each family to work out their own childcare. Sometimes it works best for families to share a sitter or swap childcare with another family whose group meets on a different night.

How long do groups last?
Each group season lasts 10–12 weeks. We have fall, winter, and spring seasons. At the end of each season, you’ll have the option of staying in the same group, trying a new group, or even taking a break. Groups don’t meet over the summer, mid-June through August.

Why weekly meetings?
Weekly meetings help your group gain (and sustain) the relational momentum that's so vital to building community around God's word. People need a community where they're known, loved, and cared for. This kind of meaningful relationship is built on regular and intentional interaction. We believe weekly meetings provide a good rhythm for that level of interaction.

What will we study?
Groups are based on the previous weekend’s sermon. To use the lecture-lab relationship as an illustration, think of the weekend sermon as a "lecture" on Christian living, and your small group as a "lab" where you get to roll up your sleeves and discuss how the sermon works in real life. Each week there will be a handful of questions on the sermon guide that you'll answer before your small group meeting. It usually takes 20–30 minutes per week to prepare for small group.

Are there groups for teenagers?
Yes, during our Students ministry on Sunday nights. These groups are not listed alongside our adult groups, but you can get the information you need by contacting the Students ministry leader at your congregation.

What does it cost?
Few things in life are free. And your involvement in a group is no exception! The cost of a group is the cost of commitment. At the end of each quarter, you have the choice of recommitting for another season, trying a new group, or taking a break from groups altogether.
